Welcome to BookEmbargo.com. This site is a collection of book reviews, mostly for books which have an embargo date. An embargo date, also known as a laydown date, is a specific date before which the book CANNOT be sold. Most people know about the laydown date concept because of the Harry Potter book series. Harry has also made popular the concept of being open at midnight, so as to sell the book “on” it’s laydown date.

So this website will relate to books, current and soon to be published, and will talk about some aspects of the book business. I work in an independent bookstore, so please keep that in mind when I discuss Amazon.com and super bookstores like Borders and Barnes & Noble.
