Post-Eclipse

Meyer trifecta

I finished Eclipse. (yes a while ago, but summer is busy, what can I say!) Wowsers was it good!

I had ONE MAJOR PROBLEM with it though… I bet a LOT of you shared my dilemma……

I could not IMMEDIATELY sit down and read book 4… other than that, I loved it. Good news Breaking Dawn is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2008, so hope is near… not TERRIBLY near, but near enough.

ABC has a video interview with Stephenie, linked here, and yeah, its a fun interview. :). My favorite line in the interview,

“There are so many heroes out there who have super magical powers and they can do these great things. I identify more easily with someone who is just human. And I think that’s a lot of [Bella's] appeal. All of us can understand being just human.”

Eclipse was wonderful, and don’t forget that Stephenie is touring across the country, and I will be at the Mass signing.

Thursday Next

Thursday Next

Jasper Fforde writes mystery/fantasy mystery novels. (At our shop, we alternate between regular mystery and sfi-fi/fantasy for his stuff.) Two of our staff members just love him to death and eagerly await anything new that he writes. From his website,

Hello! If you are completely new to my writing, the best place to start is either with the ‘Thursday Next’ series or the ‘Nursery Crime’ Series. If you opt for the former there are four books so far: The Eyre Affair, Lost in a Good Book, The Well of Lost Plots and Something Rotten. If you opt for the latter, The Big Over Easy was published in 2005 with the second, The Fourth Bear, released in the summer of 2006. It’s best to read the ‘Thursday Next’ series in order, the ‘Nursery Crime’ Series less so.

Thursday next

This is the new promo kit that we got for the new Thursday Next novel. It includes a cd with a reading, a pin, a bumper sticker, and a short “deleted scene” chapter. Very funny stuff. A quote about the Thursday Next novels, from his website….

Here at thursdaynext.com we have put together as much information about the shadowy heroine of The Eyre Affair fame as we can within the strict guidelines of the Special Operations Network. From her disputed birthdate to her disappearance in November 1985 and then to her reappearance in 1988 and her contribution to the SuperHoop ‘88 Croquet final, we have pieced together as much as we can. I will be adding to this site as and when I have new information, so stay tuned.
-Millon De Floss

The new Thursday Next novel comes out this summer, July 23rd (or July 5th if you are a lucky Brit). Also, on his appearances page, there are many United States summer signings, so check it out!

Shopaholic & Baby!

Shopaholic and Baby

Look on your shelves! The newest in the Shopaholic series is out TODAY! Sophie Kinsella has written a new novel on Becky Bloomwood and her shopping exploits. It is a fun and light series that will definitely make you chuckle.

Shopaholic and Baby cover

I have not personally read this series but her other stand-alone novels, Can You Keep a Secret? and Un-Domestic Goddess were both hilarious. Can You Keep a Secret? is actually one of my “staff picks” at the shop because it is honestly, just a GOOD TIME. From her website…

About the Shopaholic Novels:

“Endearingly upbeat (and always chic) Becky Bloomwood returns… Kinsella unfurls more of the same fun, label obsessed high jinks for Shopaholic fans. Grade A-.”—Entertainment Weekly

“Kinsella has a genuine gift for comic writing.”—The Boston Globe

“Hilarious … hijinks worthy of classic I Love Lucy episodes … too good to pass up.” —USA Today

“Kinsella’s Bloomwood is plucky and funny…. You won’t have to shop around to find a more winning protagonist.” —People

Shopaholic and Baby 2

The bag you see next to that handsome man (stand back ladies, he is all mine!) is the promo tool that Random House sent to us. It is a little gift bag with some promo writing on there. Very cute! Side note, Sophie is on Tour. If you have no plans, try to include Sophie!
