Super Bowl Commercials!!
Once again, I know I know, this is NOT ABOUT BOOKS. But, the super bowl WAS last night, so why not?
My favorite was GM’s sad robot.
And my other favorites, in no particular order.
The Budweiser “Rock Paper Scissors” commercial.
Doritos “Crunchy, smooth?”
I thought this was fabulous. I also enjoyed that Doritos opened it up to people to come up with the ideas instead of just using their own marketing team.
Coke had a good set of commercials. My favorite of their bunch was “Grand Theft Auto.”
Budweiser seemed to be the only beer doing commercials. Left and right there were Bud’s and Bud Light’s. This was my other favorite Bud commerical. I also enjoyed that the dog was (seemingly) half golden half pit.
What was your favorite? Also, check out Nosheep’s top commercials!

Tantalize
I know I know, “ANOTHER Vamp novel?”
Tantalize by Cynthia Leitich Smith is actually an interesting concept. The entire book is set up as menu (which makes sense as the subplot is the renovation of the family restaurant into a vampire-themed restaurant). Beginning with antipasto, then primo, secondo, dolce, and finishing it up with contorno(being the author’s note and acknowledgements).
There was only one real problem for me. I did like the vamp storyline, the secondary characters were wonderful, her relationship with best friend Kieran (incidentally a Werewolf) was great, and that they named her daily planner (Frank) was really the best. But there wasn’t… enough. It was a good read, but when I finished, I wanted more. Not the type of “wanting more” as in a sequel. It was the type where I wish there had been more to the book. That said, it did an excellent job of combining the dark fantasy with the restaurant/food themed ideas. A quote, from the back cover of my advance,
Of Tantalize, [Cynthia Leitich Smith] says, “I tapped into my romantic nature, my love of monsters and marinara. Hold the garlic and enjoy!”
All my hesitations aside, I think this book is definitely worth the read. It is another really good view of vampires, and hopefully there will be more about Quincie Morris, because I honestly liked her! And this lovely vampire tale goes on sale the day before Valentine’s day, February 13th, 2007.

Book Seven in Oh-Seven is a GO!
Ah the joy of eating my words.
You may remember me saying, “there is no way they will release Book Seven and Movie Five in the same month.”
Um… yeah, sorry about that! Apparently they just won’t release Book Seven FIRST.. So Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released on July 21st, 2007.
Fun Facts from Answers.com

* The book will contain a lot of the back story of the Potters
* Aunt Petunia has never performed magic, and never will, but there’s more to her than meets the eye; the letter left with Harry on the doorstep was not the first one Dumbledore sent Petunia

* “Ravenclaw will have their day”
* No book character has returned from the future
